The True Magic of the Wand - A Daughter's Love

By: Desamparado "Ivan" Royo Jr., BA101A

"A cargo truck for my father because I want to help him. He is the most important man in my life". This was Jobelle's answer during the Question and Answer portion of STI's Campus Finals for Mr. & Ms. STI Novaliches when asked the question "If you have a magic wand, what is the one thing that you will ask for?".

Jobelle Montecillo, born on February 11, 1993, is a proud daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Jose Montecillo. An ordinary girl who loves watching TV and eating and hanging out with friends. A shy and simple young lady who had made the biggest comeback and impact during the said Talent Search.

During the opening production number of all the participants and contestants of the Talent Search, Jobelle faced obstacles early on. She fell down the stage which were seen by almost all of our classmates. We were terrified but relieved to have seen her back on her foot again and somewhat managed to dwell on the pain she had caught. As the old saying goes..."the show must go on...". And Jobelle just did!

"My goal is very hard to achieve but no matter what happens, win or lose, what's important is the experience", she said. This foregoing statement shows the innate determination of this young lady. Her beauty radiates the most during the Formal Wear competition with the glamorous green gown which complimented her very well. But this was just the facade of the true beauty of Jobelle...

During the Q & A portion, after hearing Jobelle's answer, we were all teary-eyed. Her answer pinched a portion in our hearts because of its honestly and sincerity. If others have answered the same question, we would have heard "World Peace!", "Wealth", "Fame" or "A Wish for the Wish to be Never-Ending".

Jobelle's love for her father was doubly magnified not only of her answer but also of the way she had said it... Pure, thoughtful, unselfish, loving... And that is the true magic of the wand... The love that transcends any boundaries...

A truly deserved 1st runner-up crown for Jobs... I salute you!!!
